The helmet is based on the American M88/PASGT helmet; it is lightweight and fully adjustable for each player. The helmet gives some minor protection to players and forms a self-contained unit incorporating the hit sensors, hit indication LEDs and the radio unit.

The helmet is based about the American M88/PASGT helmet; it is lightweight and fully adjustable. The helmet forms a self-contained unit incorporating the hit sensors, hit indication LEDs and the radio unit. The hit sensors have a 360-degree detection capability and are necessary to detect an Infra-red shot from another gun. The hit indicators, which are especially bright for daylight viewing, provide a visual indication of a hit on a player. Remember that BattleStorm has built in reporting, so a player will also get a verbal report from their Information Unit about the shot. The built-in reporting utilises the radio unit to communicate with the other player's equipment.
The helmet, as with other equipment, uses an umbilical cable to carry power and communicate with the other parts of the player's equipment. The helmet is universal, working with any gun. If a player attempts to cheat by disconnecting the helmet, (therefore not detecting incoming shots), this is detected by the built-in diagnostics. A message is displayed and that gun will shutdown (leaving the marshals to deal with the matter).
